Description: The development of a new retail and office complex at Market Green necessitated a new crossing over the Owenacurra River to provide access to the new site. Niall Fitzsimons & Co., the Main Engineering Consultants to the project, appointed exstrado as their specialist subconsultant for the design of the new bridge structure.

The new structure comprises 2 spans of 18.5m, the total width the bridge deck being 18.5m. The superstructure comprises 900mm deep pretensioned concrete beams of 900mm depth acting compositely with a 200mm deep in-situ concrete roadway slab. The substructures comprise reinforced concrete abutments and piers supported on 13m long, ?900mm bored piles.

Services Provided: Exstrado is wholly responsible for the analysis, design and detailing of the new bridge structure.
